Best Love Songs of All Time

Well if you have ever been suffering for love, you must have spent a great deal of time listening to heartbreaking music, which usually results in top lists of best love songs of all time. We are not looking down on love here – it is just so hard to define what a ‘love song’ really means.

Is it slow melody with sad sound and sad lyrics? Is that what makes you hold your head in hands while sitting in a bar half-drunk? Does it make you spend your nights wide awake? Or is it heart-breaking and rather impulsive tune which often makes people brake glasses (and everything else around them)?

Have you ever spent the night inside your car driving in unknown direction, listening to “Total Eclipse of the Heart”? Has Rod Stewart ever made you cry? Hey, it’s ok to confess. So go ahead, make your own list.

Here are some suggestions for all the lovebirds: Stand by Me (The Drifters), Paris Nights (George Baker), Love of My Life (Queen), One Year (also by Queen), I Will Always Love You (theme from the “Bodyguard” interpreted by Whitney Houston), I have Nothing (from the same movie, sang by the same lady), Yes, the River Knows (The Doors), Angie (The Rolling Stones), and countless Elvis Presley songs (probably the third or more of them is devoted to love); if you suffer from heartache you will simply have to turn on The Beatles at least once a day.

If you are really having a hard time Nirvana will be good choice (Where Did You Sleep Last Night and About a Girl), and if you have the urge to listen to Leonard Cohen then you should be rather worried for yourself. There are songs that will put you right into a deep depression, you know.

If you are OK, then some love songs are quite pleasurable to listen, but if you are suffering, be careful what you choose to listen, for it could make you suffer even more. It is the best proof that some songs are simply made out of love.
