The parallel is made regarding the movie and actual global issues. However movie succeeded to capture the global attention and made great profit.

2. “Titanic” (1997) made $600,788,188. This is a story of romance and tragedy, directed by James Cameron, who was also co-producer and co-editor. Back then it was the most expensive movie ever. But it paid out, that’s for sure.

- ‘South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut’ – no need to explain!

- Monty Python’s: Life of Brian – great just as everything else these guys did.

- Tootsie – Dustin Hoffman is remarkable and the story is interesting. You can watch it for many times without being bored.

- The Big Lebowski – Great crew and great Coens made this movie truly hilarious. And of course, the soundtrack is perfect. Jeff Bridges is outstanding, so as the rest of the actors and the plot is good too. The atmosphere is a kind of ‘slow’ and it makes you pay your attention to every detail. And the details are great in this movie.

- Monty Python and the Holy Grail – it is hard to say which of their movies is the funniest. You can watch it for dozens of times and you will laugh just like you were laughing when you first saw the movie. This refers to all the films these guys made.

- Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb – maybe the best of Peter Sellers.

- Some Like It Hot: A classic with beautiful women Monroe as leading actress in which she proved she can actually be funny instead of just being sexy and seductive. The film has entered the history.

- Monty Python’s: Meaning of Life

- Woody Allen’s “Anything Else” – in recognizable “Allen style”, with Jason Biggs, Woody Allen, Danny DeVito, Christina Ricci, Stockard Channing and Jimmy Fallon. Great characters, funny and smart dialogues will make you love this film.

- What Women Want – Mel Gibson plays a successful guy who obviously believes he knows so much about women. But soon he realizes he was wrong in that belief. Somehow he becomes able to hear what women think and finally realizes that everything he thought he knew was totally wrong.

So here it goes:

- The Mask
Really dynamic and funny story about an ordinary guy who suddenly finds a mask and after putting it on, he starts living ‘parallel’ lives. The Mask is wild and pretty crazy guy who is able to do anything. And he is really doing it.

- Liar Liar
This film brings up a great question. All of us could ask ourselves: can we be perfectly honest for a day and spend at least 24 hours without saying a lie? Well, Fletcher Reede is having serious problems during these 24 hours of truth and nothing but the truth. Could it be so hard not to lie for a day? Yes, especially for a lawyer.

- Bruce Almighty
It came from the director of “Liar Liar”. Of course it is great. If you were given a chance to be a God for some time, what would you do? Is it easy to be a God? Bruce thought it was. But he was wrong.

- What Women Want
Another great idea: wouldn’t it be great if you could hear other people’s thoughts? Or would it be painful to face the truth? The story is about a guy who seems to have it all. But he suddenly becomes capable of hearing the thoughts of all women around him and realizes that things are so different than he thought before.

- Monty Python’s: Life of Brian. Well there is no need to comment this film really. You have probably seen it. If you haven’t, go see it and laugh!

Tootsie
- The leading role is given to Dustin Hoffman, and no one could do it better. He plays an actor who is determined to get the role. He is so determined that he starts to wear women clothes and acting like a woman, all in order to get the role. But things get complicated when he falls in love…

But there are some movies that would probably fit into everyone’s definition of horror:

-The Ring, 2002. The leading role was given to Naomi Watts. The atmosphere is pretty dark during the entire film, but that was the point, right?

- Halloween,1978. Now, maybe there is not much new when it comes to …well, anything in this movie. But nevertheless, it became famous. Everyone, I mean everyone has heard about this film and probably has seen it for once at least. We all know the plot….similar plot can be seen in other movies, too. But there is only one John Carpenter.

- The Exorcist,1973. Now this one is creepy. Really is…and quite saturated in filth as well. Perhaps there is no film where you could see more green vomit than in this one.

- House of Usher,1960, based on Edgar Allan Poe’s story “The Fall of the House of Usher”, starring Vincent Price, Mark Damon and Myrna Fahey and directed by Roger Corman.
- Mothman Prophecies, 2002. Ok, there are several real spooky scenes in this movie, but what is really spooky is the fact that it is inspired by a true story. Yeah, a true story!

- Rosemary’s Baby,1968. This is a classic written by Roman Polanski. You can recognize his exceptional style and fell the atmosphere he made in this movie with geniality. This movie deserves to be called a masterpiece for many reasons. Well, for every reason. If you haven’t seen him, you definitely should.

- Amityville Horror’,1978. Another horror movie that’s based on a true story! Can you believe it? It is more like it was inspired by a true story, to be more precise. If you have seen it, than you know what I mean.

When we say the word “rap”, the first guy we will think of will probably be 2Pack. Tragically killed, he became a legend in his very youth. Almost everything he interpreted deserves to be in this list.

The next one to deserve high position on the list is Dr. DRE with my personal favorites: “Still DRE”, “Nothing but a G thang” etc. Snoop Dog is also highly ranked with his “Gin and Juice” and “Vato (Dirty)”. Then there is quite charismatic and naughty rapper known as Eminem with several songs. “Lose Your Self” is one of my favorites, with the lyrics I consider rather sentimental and encouraging in certain way.

There are more of them by Eminem that are still played across the planet and he was awarded for his contribution to rap music. Of course, we must not forget Bobby Brown who claims to be a “handsome son of the bitch” in his world-known hit. These songs are all about different issues, but what they all have in common is that they are spontaneous and honest.

Sometimes it seems like some of the rap songs are filled with anger or despair, but if you really listen carefully and think about what they say, you’ll also hear encouraging ideas and feel a lot of strength in them. Of course, there are rather funny and/or sarcastic rap lyrics as well, full of positive energy and these will cheer you up and make you laugh. The reason why this music genre became so popular among listeners probably lays in its honesty, openness and unique style. Even those who prefer other music genres have considerable respect for rap music.

We are not looking down on love here – it is just so hard to define what a ‘love song’ really means.

Is it slow melody with sad sound and sad lyrics? Is that what makes you hold your head in hands while sitting in a bar half-drunk? Does it make you spend your nights wide awake? Or is it heart-breaking and rather impulsive tune which often makes people brake glasses (and everything else around them)?

Have you ever spent the night inside your car driving in unknown direction, listening to “Total Eclipse of the Heart”? Has Rod Stewart ever made you cry? Hey, it’s ok to confess. So go ahead, make your own list.

Here are some suggestions for all the lovebirds: Stand by Me (The Drifters), Paris Nights (George Baker), Love of My Life (Queen), One Year (also by Queen), I Will Always Love You (theme from the “Bodyguard” interpreted by Whitney Houston), I have Nothing (from the same movie, sang by the same lady), Yes, the River Knows (The Doors), Angie (The Rolling Stones), and countless Elvis Presley songs (probably the third or more of them is devoted to love); if you suffer from heartache you will simply have to turn on The Beatles at least once a day.

If you are really having a hard time Nirvana will be good choice (Where Did You Sleep Last Night and About a Girl), and if you have the urge to listen to Leonard Cohen then you should be rather worried for yourself. There are songs that will put you right into a deep depression, you know.

If you are OK, then some love songs are quite pleasurable to listen, but if you are suffering, be careful what you choose to listen, for it could make you suffer even more. It is the best proof that some songs are simply made out of love.

Summertime (Janis Joplin made this song even more famous than it was before her interpretation); I Can’t Get No Satisfaction (The Rolling Stones), Time is on My Side (by the same band), Under the Bridge (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Breaking the Girl (by the same band); Strawberry Fields Forever (The Beatles); Hey (Red Hot Chili Peppers), A Whiter Shade of Pale (Procol Harum), Sympathy for the Devil (the Rolling Stones),

Free As a Bird (the Beatles), Piece of My Heart (Janis Joplin), Little Wing (Hendrix), Moon dance (Van Morrison), Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin), What is and What Should Never Be (also by Led Zeppelin), My Baby Just Cares For Me (Nina Simone), It’s My Life (The Animals), more of The Doors: Love Me Two Times, The End, Break on Through, People Are Strange, LA Woman, The Soft Parade, The Crystal Ship, Touch me, Backdoor Man, Build

Me a Woman; more of The Beatles: Hey Jude, Let it Be, In My Life; Imagine (John Lennon), Where Did You Sleep Last Night (Nirvana), Smells Like Teen Spirit (also by Nirvana), Red House Blues (Hendrix), Layla (Eric Clapton), Message in the Bottle (The Police), You Don’t Fool Me (Queen), You’re My First, My Last, My Everything (Barry White), Sultans of Swing (Dire Straits), Road to Nowhere (Talking Heads), Like a Rolling Stone (Bob Dylan).

If you think it was easy to stop here, you’re wrong. But it would take a lot more space to mention all great songs ever written.

Even though we cannot make a rigid list, at least we can mention those who entered the history. It is hard to pick just ten of them, but here are some:

Michael      Curtiz’s Casablanca      starring Bogart and Bergman;

The Godfather by Coppola;

The      Scar face;

Victor      Fleming’s Gone With the Wind;

Chinatown by Roman Polanski;

Citizen      Kane by Orson Welles;

Bitter      Moon by Roman Polanski;

Nashville by Robert      Altman;

City      Lights by Charles Chaplin;

The      Pianist by Roman Polanski

Now this list is made of movies belonging to several different genres, and they are pretty incomparable among themselves. There are more of great motion pictures that certainly deserve to enter this list; there are actually enough genius movies to create hundreds of top lists like this one.

It would be wrong to say that those were definitely the best movies ever, since the list of the greatest movies is indefinite in some way. And since the film industry is constantly providing more and more motion pictures, there are some more recent movies that will probably get the status of “classics”. But time will be the judge.

Most of them make success thanks to more than just one factor; to create a masterpiece, there have to be outstanding leading actors, directors, screenwriters, soundtracks and many more. It takes talent and effort, but also good marketing and happy circumstances to make a legend out of a movie.

Those guys obviously made it. Some of them have really left the mark in the history of film. And this does not refer only to famous actors and directors, but the characters as well. Some of the characters are even more famous that the actors who played them.
