Top Ten Movies of All Time

If you were asked to create a list of top ten movies of all time, you would realize all the difficulty of this task. Even though we cannot make a rigid list, at least we can mention those who entered the history. It is hard to pick just ten of them, but here are some:

  1. Michael Curtiz’s Casablanca starring Bogart and Bergman;
  2. The Godfather by Coppola;
  3. The Scar face;
  4. Victor Fleming’s Gone With the Wind;
  5. Chinatown by Roman Polanski;
  6. Citizen Kane by Orson Welles;
  7. Bitter Moon by Roman Polanski;
  8. Nashville by Robert Altman;
  9. City Lights by Charles Chaplin;
  10. The Pianist by Roman Polanski

Now this list is made of movies belonging to several different genres, and they are pretty incomparable among themselves. There are more of great motion pictures that certainly deserve to enter this list; there are actually enough genius movies to create hundreds of top lists like this one.

It would be wrong to say that those were definitely the best movies ever, since the list of the greatest movies is indefinite in some way. And since the film industry is constantly providing more and more motion pictures, there are some more recent movies that will probably get the status of “classics”. But time will be the judge.

Most of them make success thanks to more than just one factor; to create a masterpiece, there have to be outstanding leading actors, directors, screenwriters, soundtracks and many more. It takes talent and effort, but also good marketing and happy circumstances to make a legend out of a movie.

Those guys obviously made it. Some of them have really left the mark in the history of film. And this does not refer only to famous actors and directors, but the characters as well. Some of the characters are even more famous that the actors who played them.
